In which I climb Everest

Hello lovelies!

Happy Sunday :) Have you got nice plans?

We've got sunny blue skies here, aka the perfect weather for watching re-runs of Dawson's Creek on Netflix. The original theme song is basically the soundtrack to my life. Although I'm sure everyone can identify with "Every voice inside my head is telling me to run like mad. Oh bows and arrows, stars and sunsets. Hey, hey, hey, yeah. Hey, hey, head yeah"?!

I digress. What I really wanted to talk to you all about today is how I'm going to become a world-class athlete.

*Helpful pause to allow you to clean up the tea you spilled/snorted all over your keyboard upon reading that*

Ok?

You see, last week I lent someone my headphones, which they subsequently broke (they don't read this blog, by the way, so I promise this isn't a passive-aggressive metaphorical horse head on their pillow. (OHMYLORD - I totally need to make a horse's head pillowcase!)). This meant I needed to buy some new ones, so yesterday I popped into Homesense to find a marked-down pair; because if there's one thing love it's a bargain. And Jack from Dawson's Creek (before he got all perma-tanned and turned into a bit of a bitch in Season 5).

Where he found the time to apply foundation is beyond me,
when he had SO MUCH BROODING TO DO

I found a pair of these babies marked down from an RRP of £40 to £5.99(!) The best part is that the packaging described them as an EXTREME SPORTS headset. Checkout Guy asked if I was planning to do some extreme sports and I was all "Absolutely. Lack of suitable earphones has been all that's been holding me back from climbing Everest and completing a triathlon."

My new Iqua ear-go earphones with fancy "lobe-clips". Fancy.

Now I've got these headphones I have no doubt my life is going to transform into one of those adverts for women's products. The ones that are all "Hey ladies! Don't worry. You can still ride a horse, windsurf, bungee-jump and wrestle a bear all at the same time EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE A UTERUS!"

That's me*. Did that this morning before breakfast.

I'll keep y'all updated on the bear-wrestling.

*That's a lie.

  1. Weve been rewatching DC on netflix and I really wish wish they'd kept that theme tune all the way through.

    1. For some reason I remembered the second version as the original. Probably because it's on the soundtrack. Which I TOTALLY don't own on CD. Ahem.xxx

  2. Haha, I'm still not much the wiser over who he is but he looks young enough to be my son! Enjoy the rest of the weekend and don't strain yourself! xxx

    1. I managed to survive the weekend (although there was definitely a wrist-strain possibility from hefting mini Mars bars into my mouth by the handful!). That photo of Kerr Smith from his DC days - here's what he looks like now (at 41); http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2418573/Former-Dawsons-Creek-star-Kerr-Smith-inch-silver-fox-debuts-salt-pepper-do.html xx

  3. Oh Dawson's Creek- sigh!!! One day, I want to watch it from beginning to end, because I have only ever seen random episodes and I love them!!! Good luck with your wrestling. There's a dragon and a pile of ironing you can try your hand at if you like?!x

    1. DC is the best!! My ex-housemate and I invested (ahem) in the full boxset of all six seasons when we moved to Brighton in our teens. Because we were that rock'n'roll, obviously. I gave her the boxset when we moved out (I got the good fridge magnets, so it all worked out!).
Thanks for the offer re: ironing dragons. If you make me an Ironing Playlist I'm in :p xxx

  4. OOOHH Dawson's Creek.....we cried, we laughed, we cried more. That whole show was the soundtrack to my youth and the song.....I recently watched the whole boxset from beginning to end - so worth it!! I'm a Pacey girl through and through (although let's not talk about that time he frosted his tips!!!)

    1. That definitely sums up the Creek! They should've made that the tagline :p Pacey definitely grew on me - I love when he and Joey go out on the boat for the summer :) My lips are sealed about the ill-advised bleaching incident. xxx

  5. Hahaha this really made me giggle. I bought some shoes recently that made me feel like I could run a marathon. But then I remembered that would actually involve having to run, and in reality, i'd much rather sit at home in my pjs!

    1. Haha. Did you take the shoes back? Sometimes I find myself looking longingly at lycra things but then remember 1. I would have to start exercising to justify buying them, and 2. I would have to do A LOT of exercise to look good in them. I always end up buying new PJs instead :p xxx

  6. Ahaha I love that there's extreme sporting earbuds! And yes, Dawson's Creek! I grew up on that show and I originally liked Jack too.
