I'm definitely a fan of this whole four-day-week thing we've got going on; halfway through the week already! Hurrah! Here are a few other things making me smile...
Tropical Tray
When buying Fran's birthday presents earlier this week*, I also treated myself to a totally unnecessary but beautiful tray. It has parrots on it, and is currently in the Debenhams 20% off sale; how on earth could I say no?!
It's now in pride of place on our chest of drawers, which doubles as my dressing table, holding all my bits and pieces that don't really need a tray.
The jar is one I made from this tutorial to go with our Moroccan-themed bedroom, and the bunny light is the one Tom bought me as a surprise - bedecked with a Lindt bunny necklace (the Lindt bunny himself is obviously no more).
Geeking out about Grammar
Today I went on a training course at work about How To Write All Good With Spellings And Stuff. Ok, perhaps it wasn't called that... Anyway, I had a totally awesome afternoon learning about passive and active sentence structures, main and secondary clauses, and the best way to write a paragraph. Seriously; I love grammar.
Edinburgh, Baby!
Tom and I have just booked a mini break to Edinburgh! Neither of us have been before, so if you have any tips on places to go please do let me know in the comments below!
It's happening pretty soon, so I am rather excited. Obviously I'm not going to post the dates we're going on the internet because of thieves. Although I'd like to see them try and thieve from us, because OUR HOUSE IS GUARDED BY KILLER ROBOTS.
What's making you smile this week?

* That's right Fran- all your presents are sitting in my dining room and I'm not telling you what they are :p
OOOOH! Id love to go to Edinburgh! xx
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited about it! Wanted to go for ages. Keeping everything crossed we get at least a little bit of sunshine :) xx
DeleteI love spelling and grammar too! My latest gripes are 'stationary' instead of 'stationery' and 'broach' instead of 'brooch'. But I will remain stationary and not broach that subject again.
ReplyDeleteYou'll love Edinburgh! You'll get a good view of the city from the historic Arthur's Seat. x
Thanks for the tip - I'll add Arthur's Seat to our list :) xx
DeleteoOOOH, so exciting!!!! I've not been north of Alnwick so I'd love to go!x
ReplyDeleteFor something a bit quirky - the Museum on the Mound (aka the Money Musuem) is actually quite a laugh; it's all about our pounds, shillings and pence and best of all, it's completely free!
ReplyDeleteIf it's nice weather, a short bus ride away to the East is Portobello beach, miles and miles of golden sand and a promenade to stroll along.
There's lots and lots of charity shops along Nicolson Street into Clerk Street.
And Greyfriars Kirkyard is free to wander around during the day, lots of old gravestones, mausoleums and the tribute to Greyfriars Bobby.
Edinburgh is fabulous, especially during Festival season (I'm counting down the days til I go again in August!) - you'll have a great time whatever you do! Have fun! :-) x
Thank you so much for all the tops- the Money Museum sounds brilliant, as does the Greyfriars Kirkyard :) xx
DeleteCamera Obscura is great! Trip Advisor had suggested we'd be there half an hour tops if we were a family, but we got so carried away looking at all the bits and pieces we missed our slot for the actual camera bit! Luckily they were understanding and rescheduled us. And we were both 21 at the time, so it's definitely not just for kids. It's about £12 to get in which again, trip advisor says is pricey but I don't think it's too bad!
ReplyDeleteWe being me and my boyfriend at the time, I should have started with haha.
DeleteThank you so much for the tip - Camera Obscura sounds brilliant; I'm definitely adding it to our list. I find we always spend longer at "family-friendly" places than people with kids do :p Perhaps because we have (slightly) longer attention spans? :) xx
DeleteYay I went to Edinburgh last year for my birthday, it was awesome!
ReplyDeleteOoo very jelly of your trip to Edinburgh! I've never been but I'd love to :) have tons of fun xx
