I was struck with a lightening bolt of inspiration on Friday night to create another embroidery-hoop picture for our staircase. This time, I made a stack of teacups out of colourful fabric scraps, and outlined them with the same fabric pen I used for my custard cream footstool makeover.
I'm really pleased with how it came out, and have added it to the pile of pictures to be hung on the wall next to our staircase- in the style of the classic Dulux colour card below.
This is what the dresser looked like before...
My dresser pre-makeover. Yes, that's a National Treasure poster. No, I have no shame. Ok, a little shame, and that's why I hide it inside the cupboard... |
A work in progress.... Lots and lots of masking tape.
Are you ready? :) Ta-da!!
I painted the majority of the dresser a beautiful bright blue, and added stripes of white and turquoise on the base of the dresser. What do you think? :)

Your dresser looks beautiful! I love the colour choices :-) I am currently looking for a wooden table to paint for my craft room.
ReplyDeleteThank you :) The choices were sort of decided for me- as I used emulsion from some of the rooms we've already decorated - but I think they work well together. I hope you find a lovely table soon- I find hunting down second-hand furniture can be quite time-consuming, but it's definitely worth it when you find the perfect piece! x
DeleteIt looks great :) and I love the teacups in the embriodery hoop x
ReplyDeleteThank you :) I've got plans to draw/collage a teapot in another frame, to make them into a set xx
DeleteGawjus.... all of it... your face, your craftiness, everything! GAWJUS!
ReplyDeleteAw :) Thank you very much! xx
DeleteCan you please come over and make my crafting furniture look that awesome?!?! I love the colours you used. And that embroidery picture is adorable. xo
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'd love to come over and paint some furniture for you one day :) How many years worth of saved pennies do airlines charge to fly to Canada? It's amazing how much difference a change of colour can make to some furniture, isn't it? xx
