My week, continued

Hello lovelies!

How have you been?

Given how brilliantly this week began, writing an update on painting the trim in our kitchen seems rather dull. This weekend I've been working through the remainder of last weekend's To Do list, interspersed with re-watching Him and Her and researching potential holiday destinations. As we aren't able to go away until January, I've attempted to mollify my current wanderlust by snooping through strangers' houses browsing beautiful apartments on Airbnb

I've also been enjoying my own DIY-related silver lining; the excuse to choose new hardware and paint. The giddy excitement of décor-related decision-making peaked this weekend when we agreed to paint our hallway radiator in Farrow and Ball's Stone Blue. You may have heard the squeals of excitement and/or celebratory parade organised in our honour.

Editor's note: Congratulations to anyone still reading this; I realise that the last paragraph was (rather aptly) about as scintillating as watching paint dry. Even if it is fancy Farrow and Ball paint.

I repainted the airing cupboard door yesterday, and subsequently decided to treat us myself to a new door handle. Sadly, this one failed to make it through the strict approval process Tom has imposed for new house-related purchases:

So, after Tom cemented my suspicions that he is clearly has no taste when it comes to door handles, I decided to hunt down a green one to match the landing's walls instead. This proved trickier than it sounds, given that there's no way on earth I'm ever going to Google "a green knob". I ended up choosing this one:

My weekend hasn't only involved DIY - there have been some fun parts too! Last night we caught up with some friends over a cheeky pint, before stuffing ourselves to bursting point with a seriously scrumptious (free!) dinner at The Hearth in Lewes. We won a free meal for two in a quiz held there a few weeks ago, and were very excited to sample more of their dangerously delicious sourdough pizzas. We also shared a HUGE starter of freshly-baked breadsticks and dips, so ended up eating more carbs in one sitting than most Olympians do in a week. Shamefully, my greediness bested my inner blogger, and I didn't take a single photo. Instead, I made the most of an evening sans-camera, and spent it plotting our future together over a glass of wine.

What have you been up to this week?

P.S. I'm linking up to newly-wed Hannah's TWTWC

P.P.S. While pondering dangerous Googling, I checked the recent search keywords which have led people to my blog:

I've got NO idea why "armless one-legged driver" linked to my blog, and I'm a little scared why someone was searching for it in the first place!

  1. Those green knobs are lovely. What an interesting collection of search terms, though I too had to wonder about the armless one!

    1. One of most popular terms of all time is "Leonardo Da Vinci scuba gear", which I photographed during our trip to the LDV museum in Venice. I suspect the academics who are researching his work feel rather confused when they end up here :p xxx

  2. Well you had my heart skipping a beat at ''painting kitchen trim!''
And the words ''Farrow and Ball'' make any sentance more exciting!

    1. Haha- that is weird (although Julia Stiles is a total babe). I thought it was rather lovely, although I'm still very sad about the fox one. xxx

  4. Your green knob is lovely (!?). Looks almost like a piece of jewellery, rather than a bit of hardware. Reading your post really makes me want to paint. I'm so tired of our cream-coloured walls. But it seems like a lot of work and I can't even manage to get to the bottom of the laundry basket... #TWTWC

    1. Painting is a faff, but shouldn't be too much hassle if your walls are already painted (and in a pale colour too). It's amazing what a difference a coat of paint can make to how a room feels :) xxx

  5. Sham about the Fox knob (oo-er) not cutting the mustard but the green one is lovely! That keyword search thing is great - of one my most common ones is 'jurassic park toilet'! x

  6. I'm sure free food tastes better than normal food you know, just like food eaten outside tastes better ;-) Shame about the fox knob but the green ones are pretty nice too! I wonder what the person searching for 'armless one-legged driver' thought when he arrived here? :-) xxx

    1. It absolutely does- reduced food tastes a bit better (unless it's actually gone mouldy) but free food definitely tastes best of all! I reckon they were pretty disappointed xxx

  7. Haha, found the bit about the Google search for a green knob very funny (mostly because I am very immature).
Sounds like you have had a great week. And the blue radiator sounds fun - radiators always look like they need a bit of love. Unfortunately I'm not sure the uni would appreciate me painting the one in my room... Haha :)

    1. I couldn't help it- sometimes sinking to childish humour is the only way to go :) I reckon you should give it a go- they might paint the others to match :p xxx

  8. That fox handle is exquisite. I'm sure Tom is terribly nice and all but he has made a grave error in rejection of that knob.
Not a great first comment to ever post on your blog. Hi, I'm Nicole. I'm not completely odd. Not completely... :)

  10. I love that green knob... hehe it sounds bad! But I do! And I'm happy to be part of the reason for 'chocolate in canada'... at least I'm assuming I'm partially responsible for it ^_^

  11. I took one for Team Blog and googled green knobs, disappointing. Very disappointing.
And I can't tell you why I was Googling armless one-legged drivers but I will say that the trail that led to this here blog was straight and true.
Snazzy blue paint, I Googled that too.

    1. Good work, Michelle- although I'm very sad to hear the results weren't as I'd expected. Well, I'm very glad you found me- even if you're still searching for those tips on driving with only one leg :p xxx

  12. Wow, what a week you're having! I love coming across blogs when great things are going on. Well, don't you know, door knobs are a serious business and you've got to get them just right. I would have gone for the fox head personally. My bf would have humoured me and then 'lost' it probably.

I once had a person come to my blog via the search for 'Belgian Pornoso'... that was weird and certainly not something that I partake in.
